It is nice to win. Three in a row even better. Three in a row away from home even better.
We just did our job. We did not play magnificently. We did our job in the end which is to qualify for the next round.
Son scored tonight and got two assists, can you sense he is really in the moment?
He is confident, he is happy. He is not a striker so playing against a low block team like Shkendija was not easy for him.
When Harry came to the game and Sonny started coming from the left it’s more his natural habitat and he had his chance and he scored a goal which was very important for us.
We were going into a direction of big risk when you have 1-1 in the result if you let the game go you are in a big risk, so the second goal was important.
When Harry scored it killed the game which probably we should have done in the first half. In the first half we were 41 minutes without scoring and then we gave them space to play.
In the second half the game became more difficult for us after our changes and something that pleases me a lot, because I like to feel the players on the bench committed to the team and ready to make an impact.
The people who came from the bench made a difference.
Congratulations, what do you think of Shkendija as a team and which player stood out?
Thanks for the congratulations. They are a good team that obviously pays at a completely different intensity than we do so the question was always would we give them time to think, time to play or not.
We started very strong and the feeling was we were going to kill the game, and then we didn’t. And then we let them play, we let them have time and they gave us a difficult match.
The fear that we felt after they equalised was fundamental for our reaction and then the intensity is different. We could feel it was difficult for them to hold our attacking waves.
To pick a player, I would say the team is well coached, well organised, very well balanced and the player that saw the red card in Romania and didn’t play today I think is an important player for them.
He was a player they missed in their midfield, but they are a good team. I spoke with Pandev a few days ago. He said we would win the game here but it would not be easy, and he was right. We won but it was not easy.
An hour or two before the game you were going up and down the pitch and looking at the goals, what happened?
Before the game was a funny situation because my goalkeepers told me that the goal was small.
I went by myself and of course the goal was small. The goalkeepers, they spend hours and hours and hours in the goal so they know when the goal is not the right dimension.
I am not a goalkeeper but I know football since I was a kid and I know when I stand there and I spread my arms and I know the distance so I felt immediately that something was going wrong.
We got the UEFA delegate to confirm and yes it was 5cm smaller (too low), which of course we demanded for the goals to be replaced for goals of the right dimension.

You seemed to be watching the home team in the warm-up?
What I was doing in the warm up, I was looking at them for the first time. I always like when I play a team I don’t know I like to go and see them live. In normal circumstances I would be here last week or a couple of weeks ago to see them live.
I couldn’t. I watched just on video but video is not the same feeling as being with them so it was just giving that.
But we prepared for this game with a very strong team because we respect them. We made a couple of changes, that is normal because we play Sunday again and Tuesday and Thursday again.
We play non-stop so it’s normal that I try to give some rest to some players but we showed them the respect we had.
We had a bench with lots of quality because we know we might need them. Probably without Harry Kane we wouldn’t have changed the game, so it was very important to have a bench with those players.
