Palace were in fine form against Manchester United, picking up an unexpected 3-1 win away at Old Trafford.
Andros Townsend opened up the scoring early in the first half, converting a cross from Jeff Schlupp. Wilfried Zaha then doubled the lead from the penalty spot following yet another controversy involving VAR after Victor Lindelof was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area.
David de Gea saved the resulting penalty from Jordan Ayew, but left his line momentarily before the kick was taken, with referee Martin Atkinson calling for the spot-kick to be retaken.
United managed to find a way back into the match as new signing Donny van de Beek halved the deficit following an unfortunate mis-kick from Cheikhou Kouyate.
But Zaha sealed the win with five minutes remaining, capitalising on some good work down the left to fire past De Gea.
The performance has certainly turned a lot of heads, with Jamie Carragher admitting that it was a brave tactical set up by Roy Hodgson.
And Shearer is in agreement, naming Hodgson as his Premier League manager of the week, with three Palace players also making his top XI.
Mamadou Sakho was named in the centre of defence after making his return from injury, with just 30 minutes under his belt in the Carabao Cup clash against Bournemouth last week.
At left-back, young star Tyrick Mitchell also made the grade. His performance in the first half saw his opposite number Daniel James substituted at the break, with Mason Greenwood replacing him and similarly coming up short.
And in attack, Zaha was an obvious choice following an overall impressive performance to add to the two goals against his former club.
Palace face another difficult challenge up next against Everton, who have also won their first two games of the Premier League season.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side picked up three points away to Spurs on the opening weekend of the season before dispatching 10-man West Brom at Goodison Park in a 5-2 win.
The Toffees face a midweek Carabao Cup clash against Fleetwood Town before their trip to Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.
