Arsenal transfer rumours: David Raya bid, improved Odsonne Edouard offer, Houssem Aouar talks

Mikel Arteta has less than four weeks to make further additions to his Arsenal squad in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners manager has re-signed Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid, with the Spaniard joining Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes as the three summer arrivals so far.

But another midfielder is on the agenda, with Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey understood to be a key target, whilst Lyon’s Houssem Aouar has also been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

There also looks to be some outgoings, with the likes of Emiliano Martinez, Sokratis, and Lucas Torreira all linked with moves away from north London.

With that said, here are the latest Arsenal transfer rumours.

£10m Raya bid

With Emiliano Martinez on the verge of signing for Aston Villa in a £20m deal, the Gunners will invest half of those funds in bringing in a replacement.

According to the Sun, Arsenal are set to make a £10million bid for Brentford’s David Raya.

In addition, the report states that the 25-year-old is said to be keen to play Premier League football, though would be brought in as understudy to Bernd Leno.

Interestingly, Raya was omitted from Brentford’s squad for their Championship opener with Birmingham City amid transfer interest from Arsenal.

Is this the clearest hint yet that he will be on the move this summer?

£22.5m bid for Odsonne Edouard

Arsenal have reportedly made £22.5m bid for Odsonne Edouard, who hit 28 goals in all competitions for Celtic last season.

And the hope is that they will be able to complete a similar deal to that which brought Kieran Tierney to the club from Celtic last year.

“It’s our information that there is an interest from Arsenal in Odsonne Edouard, the France [youth] international striker currently at Celtic,” Ian McGarry said on the Transfer Window podcast.

“It’s our information that the initial offer from Arsenal was £15m, which was rejected by Celtic.

“That offer has since been increased to £20m with add-ons up to the value of another £2.5m.

“However, the payment would be staged over four years, something which of course we saw last season with the transfer of Kieran Tierney to the Emirates. Celtic would prefer to have a much bigger payment up front.”

Aouar talks

Reports linking Houssem Aouar with a move to Arsenal are heating up.

Lyon sporting director Juninho has previously confirmed talks have taken place.

“I get on very well with the Sporting Director (Edu),” Juninho said. “We spoke on the phone. Houssem Aouar is really well liked by Arteta.

“There were some discussions for Matto Guendouzi, who is also a good player. He was brought up during the discussion. But we don’t need his profile, we were very clear.

“If it is like that, we are not interested at all, we cut the conversation, that is where things ended.”

And now it’s being claimed that further talks between Arsenal and Lyon are planned.
