Tottenham learn Arkadiusz Milik price tag as squad numbers hint at Jose Mourinho’s plans

Here is the Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Saturday, September 12.

Spurs will need to pay £32m to land Milik

Reported Tottenham target Arkadiusz Milik will cost £32million if Spurs are to sign him, according to a report from Football Insider.

The report states that Napoli have taken £14m off their asking price for the Polish striker after failing to find a willing buyer during this summer transfer window.

Spurs are in the market for a new striker, to try and provide some competition and support to their talisman, Harry Kane.

Milik could be that man, and if the report is to be believed, then Jose Mourinho’s side are preparing an offer for the 26-year-old.

Spurs confirm shirt numbers for new season

Tottenham have confirmed their new shirt numbers for the upcoming 2020/21 season, as Japhet Tanganga has been handed a new number.

Tanganga, who wore 39 as he emerged into the Spurs senior team last season, will now wear the 25 shirt for his side.

Spurs defender Danny Rose will not be given a number after falling out of favour under manager Mourinho – something evident to see in the Tottenham: All or Nothing documentary.

Mourinho names Everton’s best signing

Everton’s transfer business has been very impressive this summer, and Mourinho has named the Toffees’ best signing of the window so far.

James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure have all been brought in for big money, as the Merseyside club prepare for Carlo Ancelotti’s first full season in charge – starting with a trip to Tottenham on Sunday.

However, Mourinho believes the best signing they’ve made is Ancelotti, rather than any of the new players.

The Spurs boss said in his pre-Everton press conference: “The best new signing they had was the coach, Carlo. Coming again to a similar situation as mine and obviously when a coach of Carlo’s dimension goes to a club, it’s not to avoid relegation or stay in mid-table.”
