Pep Guardiola tells Chelsea and Marina Granovskaia who to sign next following Thiago Silva deal

The summer of 2020 is one that Chelsea’s supporters are not likely to ever forget.

After being starved of new signings last summer, Chelsea’s supporters have had difficulty keeping up with all their new arrivals so far this time around.

With more than a month of the summer transfer window still to go, Chelsea are quickly assembling one of the most fierce looking squads that the Premier League has to shout about.

After wrapping up a deal for Ajax star Hakim Ziyech, who made his Blues debut in a 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion in a friendly at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, the Blues splashed the cash once again in June, landing long-term target Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in a deal worth more than £50million.

This week, though, has been Chelsea’s busiest so far in terms of new arrivals, signing no less than three new players to bolster head coach Frank Lampard’s defensive options ahead of the start of the new season.

First, long-term target Ben Chilwell sealed a move from Leicester City for £50million before the Blues secured the signing of former Nice centre-back Malang Sarr on a free-transfer.

The Blues, who will travel to Brighton once again in just over a fortnight’s time to kick-off their 2020/21 Premier League campaign, then capped off a memorable week with the addition of Brazilian international Thiago Silva, who joined the club on a free-transfer after leaving French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

The arrivals of Chilwell and Silva will significantly strengthen Lampard’s team ahead of the start of the new season, meaning there are not many more pieces to add to his fast-growing jigsaw.

Nevertheless, the Blues remain hungry for more new additions and Bayer Leverkusen starlet Kai Havertz is poised to be the next arrival in West London, with Chelsea edging closer and closer towards signing the Germany international for a fee believed to be in the region of £90million.

Should Chelsea get a deal over the line and add Havertz to their ranks, the German will add another sprinkling of quality to Lampard’s attacking armoury. Though the addition of Havertz would do exactly that, questions continue to be asked about the quality they have in the defensive-midfield area, with uncertainty continuing to surround the futures of both N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.

Should one of them leave this summer, the Blues are almost certain to look to add fresh legs to that area of the team, with one player who would suit the role well continuing to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

The man in question is West Ham United star Declan Rice, who has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea for some time.

And should the Blues make the decision to continue their summer spending spree and make a move for the England international, who started his career at Chelsea, it would certainly get the seal of approval from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

The City boss has previously lavished the Hammers star with praise, insisting that he will be a “top player” for many years to come.

Following a meeting between City and West Ham back in November 2018, Guardiola said: “Declan Rice is an excellent young player and he will be a top English player for many years to come.”

Kai Havertz continues to be strongly linked with Chelsea

With that in mind, Chelsea should be doing all they can to bring Rice back to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Lampard prides himself on developing young English talent, meaning Rice would fit the bill perfectly.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Rice this summer, with the most recent report claiming that the Blues would be prepared to launch an offer for him following the arrival of Chilwell.
