The winger bid farewell to Chelsea supporters in an open letter on Sunday, with Arsenal confident of agreeing a three-year deal with the Brazilian.
If Willian does seal a move to the Emirates, all eyes will turn to what shirt number the Brazilian will wear in the red and white of Arsenal.
The experienced winger, who signed for Chelsea in 2013, took over Eden Hazard’s number 10 shirt at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, after the Belgian departed for Real Madrid.
And Willian’s previous comments could hint that he would like the same number again at Arsenal.
“Number ten is now mine,” he said in an interview with Brazilian TV show Desimpedidos. “The club has said it will change [my shirt number] and it will be mine.
“I have always liked playing with number ten.
“Since I was a kid playing indoors football, I have always used the number ten. At Corinthians I was also number ten.”
Willian’s admission means the Brazilian will only secure his dream number if Arsenal’s incumbent number 10, Mesut Ozil, gives up his shirt or leaves the club in the summer.
The German playmaker is the Gunners’ highest earner on a reported £350,000-a-week, but has been frozen out of Arteta’s plans since the season restarted.
His absences have been attributed to a back problem, but along with Matteo Guendouzi, Ozil was left out of the squad for the FA Cup final.

Speaking after the victory over Chelsea at Wembley, Arteta thanked the absent Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi for their contributions, saying: “They’re all part of it.
“We don’t have here Matteo (Guendouzi) and Mesut (Ozil) but they’re a big part of it because they all contributed in here. They all should be a big part of it. All of them contributed to this trophy.”
Ozil’s future remains unclear, but it will be interesting to see if the German would willingly give up his shirt number if Willian requests it.
