Arsenal’s win over Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday means that as well as getting silverware at the end of the season, the Gunners will be playing European football again next season.
That will serve as not only a financial boost to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta in the transfer window, but will also help in attracting more players to the Emirates Stadium.
Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is one of the names to be most heavily linked with a summer move.
Arteta may also be keen on bolstering his defence in the window, and according to the Telegraph Sevilla defender Diego Carlos is emerging as one of the club’s top defensive targets this summer.
But who is Carlos and how likely is he to arrive at the Emirates Stadium?
Here is everything you need to know about the defender.
Who is Diego Carlos?
Carlos is a 27-year-old central defender who plays for La Liga side Sevilla. He joined the club just last summer, signing from French side Nantes.
Carlos started his career in his native Brazil before moving to Europe in 2014. He has spent some time at Portuguese club Estoril and a loan spell at Porto B before joining Nantes in 2016, playin 108 games for the Ligue 1 side.
How has he performed this season?
Since joining Sevilla, Carlos has become a first choice centre back for the club, playing a total of 41 games in all competitions this season and scoring two La Liga goals. He has missed just three league games, with one of them due to a yellow card suspension.
His impressive performances this season has led to interest from the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.
How much will he cost?
The defender has a release clause of £68 million in his contract, but it is reported that it could take less than that to secure his services.
It is reported that Sevilla are likely to accept an offer of around the £54.5 million mark.
