A 1-0 victory over Norwich City at Stamford Bridge has strengthened Frank Lampard’s side in their push for a top-four finish, bouncing back after the weekend’s defeat to Sheffield United.
The win puts Chelsea just four points shy of securing Champions League football, with their push aided by the fact that Leicester City and Manchester United tussle on the final day.
However, Chelsea’s remaining two matches are difficult as they face the Premier League champions and Wolves – which led Cole to share his wish ahead of the match at Anfield.
“They’re two very, very good sides. You go to Anfield, I think when they’re going to get the Premier League trophy so hopefully they’ve had another night out before the game and are not too worried about it,” he told Sky Sports.
“Chelsea have to go there and try to be ruthless, try maybe sit back and have a defensive mindset because I feel to get six points is tough, playing Liverpool away and Wolves at home, so you’d take three to be honest.
“You’d go into the last game of the season thinking you have to win this and you’re safe then. I think I would take that as the Chelsea manager.”
