West Ham press conference live: David Moyes on Burnley loss, fullback struggles and Hallers’ return

Good evening and welcome along to David Moyes’ post-match press conference after West Ham’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley in the Premier League at London Stadium.

The Hammers were well on top, Tomas Soucek wasted a great chance to give them the lead midway through the first half the most glaring miss of all.

Andriy Yarmolenko and Jarrod Bowen both failed to get shots off when well placed inside the box, Soucek headed a Cresswell cross over

They were made to pay on 38 minutes when Jay Rodriguez headed home his seventh of the season to give Sean Dyche’s team the lead completely against the run of play.

Less than a minute after the restart, West Ham should have been level as Michail Antonio burst through and, on current form, you’d have backed him to score. However, he produced a woeful finish and somehow skewed wide from 12 yards with just Nick Pope to beat.

The Hammers huffed and puffed again after the break but simply couldn’t break down a dgged, determined and stoic Burnley defence.

Substitute Sebastien Haller had the best chance of all and he nearly scored with his first touch but was denied by a superb Nick Pope stop. In all, West Ham had 22 shots at goal but failed to stick one of them in the back of the net.

The Hammers remain four points clear of the drop zone and face doomed Norwich City this Saturday lunchtime at Carrow Road.

Moyes will be logging into Zoom shortly to conduct his post-match talk and we will have live updates right here when he does. As always, there will be a full transcript with every word the manager had to say online later this evening.
