Jose Mourinho inherited a side that needed significant improvements following a disappointing first half of the campaign under Mauricio Pochettino and it’s clear that more work is required.
A wide range of players have already been linked with a move to North London and plenty of rumours continue to circulate.
Here, we have gathered some of the latest snippets below.
Barcelona’s Emerson eyed
Tottenham are targeting a move for Barcelona full-back Emerson with the La Liga giants considering cashing in on his services, Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness reports.
The right-back is currently on loan with Real Betis and was due to spend another season with the Seville outfit but the situation has ‘taken a turn’.
It’s reported that there is plenty of interest in his services, with Tottenham joined by Borussia Dortmund, Everton and Newcastle in the hunt.
As such, Barcelona are considering cutting short their agreement with Betis and selling Emerson this summer to raise funds.
Ben Godfrey competition
Tottenham face a wealth of competition in the market for Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey this summer as top sides from across Europe have joined the hunt, The Sun states.
The England U21 international has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham during the past 12 months and could be among the many players to leave if the Canaries are relegated.
22-year-old Godfrey is now attracting suitors from the Bundesliga, with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig both said to be keen on the £25m-rated defender.
That could lead to a battle in the market for his services, as it’s previously been mentioned that Liverpool, Arsenal and Lyon have expressed an interest.

Wigan Athletic raid
Tottenham are looking to capitalise on Wigan Athletic’s financial crisis by raiding the Championship side for two highly-rated assets, The Sun states.
The Latics entered administration last week and will receive a 12-point deduction at the end of the season, which as it stands will condemn the club to relegation to the Championship.
Administrators have reportedly already received approaches for a number of players, with Spurs said to be keen on landing Joe Gelhardt and Jensen Weir.
Striker Gelhardt, 18, is also said to be on the radar of Everton, while Brighton could rival Spurs for midfielder Weir, also 18.
