Hakim Ziyech was a confirmed summer signing soon after the January transfer window closed, with the Blues keen to get their business done early.
And they backed up that suggestion with a move for Timo Werner, completed before the German Bundesliga season ended.
Chelsea have been linked with a number of other players, namely Bayer Leverkusen ace Kai Havertz and Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.
Both would cost significant amounts of money, and with the Blues having already splashed out more than £80million on the two signings they have already made, head coach Frank Lampard may be asked to offload some players before bringing new ones in.
One of those that could be sold is Jorginho, who has not been featuring under Lampard since the Premier League restarted.
Lampard was asked about the Italian during his pre-match press conference ahead of the game with Crystal Palace, saying: “He has been very professional about it. He wants to play as every player does. It is one of the hardest parts of the job is telling a player who is not playing, or picking a squad and leaving out players. Particularly when they are not training well and Jorginho always trains well.
“But he has handled it professionally and that’s what I would expect. It is important for players in a long season, with the competitive squad that we have, that they are there to support players when they are out, and he has done that. So we will see with my selection tomorrow.”
Jorginho being on the sidelines has prompted plenty of speculation around his future and a former Blues boss could help them fund a move for Havertz, by signing Jorginho.
Maurizio Sarri brought Jorginho to Stamford Bridge at the start of last season and he is reported to be keen on linking up with the midfielder once more at Juventus.
Juve have been linked with a €50million (£45million) move to sign Jorginho and that would go some way to paying for Havertz to arrive at Stamford Bridge.
