Chelsea evening headlines as Emerson linked with Conte reunion and Granovskaia praised

Here are the Chelsea evening headlines for Saturday, June 4.

Emerson linked with Inter Milan transfer

Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri could be on his way to Inter Milan in the next transfer window.

That is according to Corriere dello Sport, via Sempre Inter, who report that former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and his side have held talks with the 25-year-old’s agent.

The Serie A outfit recently added highly-rated right-back Achraf Hakimi to their ranks with a transfer from Real Madrid and it is understood that Emerson has been discussed as an option at left-back.

Conte’s side often deploy full-backs in a more advanced role which would suit Emerson who has, at times, struggled defensively at Stamford Bridge. Although talks are reportedly only in their initial stages, his departure could pave the way for Chelsea to find a more defensively sound replacement with Marcos Alonso’s future also uncertain.

Kepa opens up on £72million price tag

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga insists that his £72million price tag hasn’t affected his performances for the club so far.

The Spanish shot-stopper arrived from Athletic Bilbao two years ago after the departure of Thibaut Courtois but he has often struggled for the Blues with several individual errors costing his side dearly.

However, Kepa believes the price tag hasn’t been an extra weight to carry, reaffirming his determination to get things right at Stamford Bridge.

He told talkSPORT: “I’m fortunate enough to look beyond any price that was paid and try to improve my value by working hard, training hard and becoming a better goalkeeper, as well as a better person.

“The price is not something that worries me or weighs heavy on my mind.”

Cech credits Granovskaia for sealing Werner and Ziyech transfers

Chelsea technical and performance advisor Petr Cech has paid credit to Marina Granovskaia for her role in the club’s recent transfer business.

The Blues have already confirmed the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, who will join the club ahead of next season to add much-needed world class talent to Frank Lampard’s young squad.

Recently speaking on Soccer AM, Cech revealed that Granovskaia has played a big part in making the transfer happen and believes that no one else could do the job as well as her.

“She has been doing it a long time now with a lot of success so there is no reason for anyone to try to step in and do it,” he said.

“As I said the football part is part of my job, and to make sure the manager is happy and the club is happy with the players coming in.

“Then Marina does the difficult part which is to negotiate with the club and all the conditions.”
