The Gabon international is now into the final 12 months of his current deal at the Emirates Stadium and, at the time of writing, Arsenal have not yet been able to thrash out a deal with him and his representatives in the hope that they can keep hold of him.
Aubameyang, who took his tally of Premier League goals for the season to 19 with a brace against Norwich City on Wednesday evening, has been linked with a whole host of big-name clubs over the past few months, including the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Manchester United.
But Arsenal and head coach Mikel Arteta, who has now led his side to three wins on the bounce in all competitions, are confident that the former Borussia Dortmund star, who bagged his 50th Premier League goal in Arsenal colours against the Canaries, will stay beyond the end of next season.
“Hopefully he will be here for a long time,” Arteta told BBC Sport.
“Every time I speak with him he is really happy where he is, he is very settled and his family are happy.”
And judging by Aubameyang’s activity on social media following the win over Norwich last night he most certainly does appear to be happy.
Sharing, commenting on and liking a host of posts that were praising him for reaching 50 goals in Arsenal colours.
Amongst all of them, the striker appeared to potentially drop a cryptic hint about his future, which could imply that he has ambitions to stay at the Emirates Stadium beyond the end of his contract expiring next summer.
Aubameyang ‘liked’ a tweet shared on football.london’s Arsenal account last night, which posted a video of Arteta saying how much he and the club would like to keep hold of the striker.
The 31-year-old’s reaction to that suggests that he has ambitions to stay in North London beyond next summer, offering a huge boost to the fans, staff and, of course, his teammates.
The striker has been nothing short of superb since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, proving to be one of the most deadliest strikers in European football, which has just gone to show why so many clubs are keen on landing his signature.
