Gunners identify Aubameyang replacement
Arsenal will launch a move for Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaves the Emirates this summer, according to German outlet Bild.
The Gunners face a difficult decision over Aubamayang’s future. Out of contract in 2021, the club can either cash in on the Gabon international this summer or risk losing him for nothing in 12 months’ time.
The former appears more likely and if Aubameyang does depart Arsenal could attempt to sign Weghorst, who would cost around £32million.
The 27-year-old has impressed in his two years at Wolfsburg, scoring 33 goals in 66 Bundesliga games, and is also being monitored by Newcastle United.
Trippier’s gives verdict on Arsenal target Partey
Arsenal target Thomas Partey would “fit in perfectly” in the Premier League, according to Atletico Madrid team-mate and former Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier.
The Gunners have long been linked with a summer move for the Ghana international, whose current contract contains a £45million release clause.
Trippier has spent this season playing alongside Partey after he joined Atleti last summer. And the England international has been hugely impressed with the 27-year-old midfielder.
“I’d seen him play for Atletico but I didn’t realise how good he is,” stated the Atletico right-back when speaking on The Beautiful Game podcast. “He’s unbelievable, his physicality, how he breaks up play. Technically he’s got everything.
“He ranks as one of the best midfielders I’ve played with, but Mousa [Dembele] is Mousa and he’s on a different planet. Even in training he was in cruise control.”
Trippier added: “Obviously everyone watches the Premier League. He (Partey) just asks what it’s like, the style of play, but a few players have. It doesn’t mean they are leaving by the way!
“It’s just about certain players who play in the league, what it’s like and I just say. The Premier League is the Premier League and is one of the best leagues in the world. Thomas will fit in perfectly in the Premier League.”
Arsenal have chance to replace Ramsey
When Aaron Ramsey left for Juventus last summer, Arsenal lost an influential part of their squad and a goalscoring threat from midfield.
Dani Ceballos, who joined for the season on loan from Real Madrid, hasn’t been able to fill the void left by the Welshman, and the Gunners are unlikely to make his move permanent this summer.
Arsenal need to improve their midfield, though. And in Red Bull Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai they may have identified the ideal Ramsey replacement.

Football.london understands the Hungarian is one of a number of attacking midfielders the club have scouted in the last 12 months and, according to reports, Arsenal are in advanced negotiations to sign Szoboszlai.
He has struck ten goals for Salzburg this term and claimed a further 16 assists in 37 games. It’s an impressive output, especially given the fact he’s still a teenager.
Szoboszlai would cost around £25million but, as further detailed here, that could quickly prove a bargain fee.
