The Gunners have struggled for stability since the resumption of the season but bright sparks have been shown by their younger contingent, with Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah both on target in the Premier League win against Southampton.
However, there is still plenty of work to be done and, while Bentley is confident that the young players can become crucial assets, he feels that support is required.
“Youth development has always been Arsenal’s strong point. It was when I was there. The systems are there in place along with the type of football they want to generate and there will be lots of opportunities for them,” he told 888 Sport.
“If they can just get the foundations in place so they have the right experienced players to help them then Arteta’s model will be to allow young players to develop.
“As long as he is given time his style of football is good for that.”
Arsenal have blooded a wealth of young players into their squad this season, with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, as well as Willock, Nketian and Reiss Nelson, all earning regular opportunities under Arteta’s tutelage.
